Be informed about the required supporting documents that must be sumbitted.

1. Supporting documents necessary for adult passport issue.
  • An application form, which is completed electronically by an Employee of the Passport Office which also acts as a Statement of Truth in which the applicant states whether:

- has been convicted of the offenses of case a of paragraph 2 of article 1 of the Presidential Decree 25/2022.
- has a pending prohibition to exit the country,
- has been declared as draft-evader or deserter.
- has been declared as overseas draft-evader.
- serves a sentence involving deprivation of liberty or is in pre-trial detention.
- a pending unenforceable final conviction or arrest warrant is issued against them.
- resides at the stated address and if he/she has been issued a passport, in accordance with the provisions of the Law 3103/2003, which may have been lost, stolen or if a renewal or replacement passport is being requested.
- wishes to be informed about the passport expiry date and
- has been informed of the processing rules and his rights as a data subject.

  • Demonstration of the applicant's active (valid) Identity Card or the corresponding digital identity through the Gov.gr Wallet application.
    In the case of armed forces and security forces personnel who submit a request for a passport using a special identity card, a photocopy of this must be submitted.
    It is noted that, as of 03.08.2026 onwards, the presentation of an identity card that does not comply with Council Regulation (EU) 2025/1208 of 12 June 2025 on strengthening the security of identity cards of Union citizens and of residence documents issued to Union citizens and their family members exercising their right of free movement (OJ L of 20.06.2025) will not be accepted for the issuance of a passport, without prejudice to identity cards that remain valid until 31.08.2031, in accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 5 of the aforementioned Regulation.

Permanent overseas residents who wish to be issued a passport at a consular authority and do not have a Greek identity card, must submit a birth certificate or certificate of civil (family) status from the municipality in which they are registered with a recent color photograph attached.

  • A recent (taken within the last six months from the date of application) color digital photograph, in accordance with the technical specifications set in ICAO document 9303, in which the person depicted must be wearing civilian clothing.
  • - In cases where the request is submitted within Greece, the photo must be submitted in digital format through the electronic service myPhoto operating on the Gov.gr web portal. To ensure a smooth transition to the new procedure for the submission of supporting documents for passport issuance and the uninterrupted service of citizens, printed facial photographs will be accepted at the latest until 31/01/2026.
    - In cases of submitting an application abroad, the photograph is either uploaded by the citizen to the special platform of the "Digital Service for Electronic Management of Consular Applications" of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and submitted through this digital service, or is provided in physical form by the citizen, printed on analog photographic paper, without the use of household ink-jet or laser printer technology. Alternatively, in Consular Authorities where appropriate and functional photographic equipment is installed, the photograph may be taken on site by the competent employee.
    - In any case, until the online interface between the competent authorities receiving supporting documents and the National Passport and Secure Documents Centre is achieved, or in exceptional cases where this is not possible for technical reasons, the photograph is submitted exclusively in physical form, printed on analog photographic paper, without the use of home ink-jet or laser printer technology.

In the event that the technical specifications of the photographs are not met, a medical certificate bearing the signature of a doctor of a corresponding specialty with the condition being certified must be submitted.

  • Receipt of deposited Administrative fees.
  1. For a 10 year expiration date passport, total value of 80,00 euro e-Administrative fee is required (type - 2014), which is apportioned to:
    Digital transaction fee: 22,00 euro,
    Passport booklet fee: 53,00 euro and
    Postal fee: 5,00 euro.
  2. For passports issued in accordance to Article 1 §3 P.D. 25/2022 and Article 4 §3 P.D. 25/2022, 13 month expiration date passport, total value of 67,00 euro e-Administrative fee is required (type - 2017), which is apportioned to:
    Digital transaction fee: 9,00 euro,
    Passport booklet fee: 53,00 euro and
    Postal fee: 5,00 euro.
  3. For cases where fingerprinting is currently unavailable, 8 month expiration date passport, total value of 62,50 euro e-Administrative fee is required (type - 2018), which is apportioned to:
    Digital transaction fee: 4,50 euro,
    Passport booklet fee: 53,00 euro and
    Postal fee: 5,00 euro.
  4. For passports issued in accordance to article 1 §4 case b P.D 25/2022, 3 month expiration date passport, total value of 62,50 euro e-Administrative fee is required (type - 2019), which is apportioned to:
    Digital transaction fee: 4,50 euro,
    Passport booklet fee: 53,00 euro and
    Postal fee: 5,00 euro.

In the cases of Greek citizens who live abroad and submit a request through the competent Consular Authorities, a receipt of consular fees is submitted to certify the payment of the above fees.

2. Supporting documents for passport renewal.

The same supporting documents as in case 1 are submitted.
The valid passport is presented, a photocopy of which is submitted as additional supporting document.
Upon receipt of the new passport, the validity of the previous one automatically ceases, which is cancelled in accordance with paragraph 3 of article 3 of the Presidential Decree 25/2022.

3. Supporting documents for passport replacement.

The same supporting documents as in case 1 are submitted.
The valid passport is presented, a photocopy of which is submitted as additional supporting document.
Upon receipt of the new passport, the validity of the previous one automatically ceases, which is cancelled in accordance with paragraph 3 of article 3 of the Presidential Decree 25/2022.

In case of passport replacement, total value of 58,00 euro Administrative fee is required type - 2016), which is apportioned to:
Passport booklet fee: 53,00 euro and
Postal fee: 5,00 euro.

4. Supporting documents in case of passport theft or loss.

In the event of the issuance of a new passport due to theft, loss or total destruction, it is required that the relevant report has been made to a competent Greek authority, in accordance with article 4 of the Presidential Decree 25/2022, while the same supporting documents as in case 1 are submitted.

5. Supporting documents required for a minor’s passport.
  • An application form, which is completed electronically by an employee of the Passport Office which also acts as a Statement of Truth in which the applicant states whether:
  1. For an applicant under the age of thirteen (13) the legal guardian must certify:
  2. - the minor’s stated address and if a passport has been previously issued in their name, according to the provisions of the Law 3103/2003 3103/2003 (Α’–23), which have reported lost, stolen or requests its renewal or replacement.
    - wishes to be informed about the passport expiry date and
    - has been informed of the processing rules and his rights as a data subject.

  3. An applicant over thirteen (13) years of age must state whether:
  4. - has been convicted of the offenses of case a of paragraph 2 of article 1 of the Presidential Decree 25/2022.

    In the case of minors under twelve (12) years of age, in addition to the above-mentioned digital photograph, the submission of one (1) printed color photograph (in physical form) is also required, in order to be affixed to the birth certificate and for the required identity verification to be carried out.

In the event that the technical specifications of the photographs are not met, a medical certificate bearing the signature of a doctor of a corresponding specialty with the condition being certified must be submitted.

  • Receipt of deposited Administrative fees.
  1. For a 10 year expiration date passport (applicant over 14 years of age), total value of 80,00 euro e-Administrative fee is required (type - 2014), which is apportioned to:
    Digital transaction fee: 22,00 euro,
    Passport booklet fee: 53,00 euro and
    Postal fee: 5,00 euro.
  2. For a 3 year expiration date passport (applicant up to 14 years of age), total value of 71,00 euro e-Administrative fee is required (type - 2015), which is apportioned to:
    Digital transaction fee: 13,00,
    Passport booklet fee: 53,00 euro and
    Postal fee: 5,00 euro.
  3. For passports issued in accordance to Article 1 §3 P.D. 25/2022 and Article 4 §3 P.D. 25/2022, 13 month expiration date passport, total value of 67,00 euro e-Administrative fee is required (type - 2017), which is apportioned to:
    Digital transaction fee: 9,00 euro,
    Passport booklet fee: 53,00 euro and
    Postal fee: 5,00 euro.
  4. For cases where fingerprinting is currently unavailable, 8 month expiration date passport, total value of 62,50 euro e-Administrative fee is required (type - 2018), which is apportioned to:
    Digital transaction fee: 4,50,
    Passport booklet fee: 53,00 euro and
    Postal fee: 5,00 euro.
  5. For passports issued in accordance to article 1 §4 case b P.D. 25/2022, 3 month expiration date passport, total value of 62,50 euro e-Administrative fee is required (type - 2019), which is apportioned to:
    Digital transaction fee: 4,50 euro,
    Passport booklet fee: 53,00 euro and
    Postal fee: 5,00 euro.

In the cases of Greek citizens who live abroad and submit a request through the competent Consular Authorities, a receipt of consular fees is submitted to certify the payment of the above fees.

In order to submit the supporting documents, the personal presence of the person exercising custody is also required. When custody is exercised by both parents, the personal presence of one parent and the written consent of the other, whose signature is validated by any competent authority, is sufficient.

If, due to reasons beyond their control, parents cannot be present a relative must be present with the written authorization of one parent and written consent of the other parent. Signatures have to be validated by local authorities. If parents are unable to authorize a relative, a guardian is appointed and the supporting documents are submitted as specified in Articles 1601 and 1602 of the Civil Code.

In the case of a person under guardianship or judicial assistance, the presence of the guardian or judicial assistance is also required.

6. Additional Supporting Documents
  • A decision appointing a Commissioner or a judicial support specialist, when it comes to issuing a passport to an individual under guardianship or judicial support.
  • A medical certificate from a public hospital, in the case that the applicant due to serious health problems is rendered incapable of submitting and lodging their application in person at the Passport Office.
  • Documentation which certifies the necessity of issuing a passport for traveling abroad is for treatment of serious health problems, injuries, death or serious illness of a close relative and despite reasons which would otherwise prohibit the applicant from being issued a passport according to Article 1, paragraph 2 of the Presidential Decree 25/2022.
  • A medical certificate from a public hospital and any other supporting documents stating and verifying serious health reasons which render medical treatment abroad essential. In this instance the passport is priority processed and can be issued within one (1) working day from application submission.
  • In the instance of a draft evader of a permanent overseas resident, who is allowed to be issued a passport, exclusively in accordance with Article 1 par.4 of the Presidential Decree 25/2022, the applicant must submit, along with all other necessary supporting documentation, a certificate issued by the relevant military service.

 

General Information:

  • Supporting documents submitted must be recent and issued within the last six (6) months (Article 2, par. 2, Common Ministerial Decision 3021/22/10-ο).
  • If the municipal registrar number is not specified on the applicant’s identity card this can be declared orally and completed on the passport application form.
